Easter: Celebrating Our Risen Savior

Easter is the heartbeat of our faith—a time we celebrate the crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ! It is because of the blood of Jesus that we stand forgiven, washed, and justified. Not our works. Not our righteousness. Only the blood of Jesus!

Throughout Scripture, God gave us beautiful portraits of Christ centuries before He walked the earth. One of the most stunning is Joseph, son of Jacob. From his coat of many colors to ruling Egypt, every detail of Joseph's life points to Jesus. Let's journey through this magnificent revelation!

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." — Romans 5:8-9

The Beloved Son: Father's Delight

Rachel was barren, unable to bear a child until the fullness of time scheduled by God—then she birthed Joseph (Gen 30:22-24). This mirrors the virgin birth of Jesus! Since the promise of the seed of the woman in Genesis 3:15, satan tried to frustrate God's salvation plan by corrupting human flesh with fallen angels producing Nephilim giants. This would mean Christ could not be birthed as human because all flesh would have been corrupted. But praise the Lord, in the fullness of time, Jesus was born through a virgin. Hallelujah!

Jacob made Joseph a coat of many colors because he loved him and delighted in him (Gen 37:3). This represents God the Father's love for Jesus! The Father bequeathed the heavenly throne, the angels, the heavens, the earth, and all humanity—all power and authority—to Jesus. Joseph was lovely to look upon; Jesus is wonderful in His birth (virgin birth), earth walk (miracles, signs, wonders), death (cruxifixtion didnt kill him - gave up His breath willingly), resurrection (rose with flesh and bone body with no blood and water in it), and ascension (seated at God's right hand in multiplie offices)!

"Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours." — Genesis 37:3

Hated, Stripped, and Sold for Silver

Joseph was sent by his father to check on his brothers (Gen 37:13-14). Jesus was sent by the Father to bring salvation to humanity. Joseph was hated by his brothers and thrown into a pit; God rescued him, and he was sold to the Ishmaelites for thirty pieces of silver (Gen 37:28). Jesus was hated and crucified, but God resurrected Him from the dead!

Joseph's brothers were jealous (Gen 37:11); the Chief Priests and elders were jealous of Jesus' glory (Matt 27:18). Joseph was stripped of his robe of many colors (Gen 37:23); Jesus was stripped of His garments, and they cast lots for them (John 19:23-24). Joseph was rejected by his own and sold; both Jew and Gentile crucified Jesus. Judas betrayed Jesus for thirty silver pieces, just as Joseph was sold for thirty pieces of silver!

"And they took him, and cast him into a pit... Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver." — Genesis 37:24, 28

From Prison to Palace: The Exalted One

Potiphar's wife lied about Joseph, and Joseph was imprisoned (Gen 39:20). The Jews falsely accused Jesus, leading to His crucifixion. But God rescued Joseph and made him prince in Egypt! God raised Jesus and made Him sit at the pinnacle of the universe at the right hand of God the Father. Joseph ruled Egypt, meaning the world; Jesus rules the rulers of the earth (Rev 1:5)!

The greatest parallel: Joseph prophesied that Israel would inherit the Promised Land, giving instruction to carry his bones to Israel when they left Egypt (Gen 50:24-25). Jesus prophesied that He is soon coming back to rapture His church! The church will no longer be the dead bones of Joseph but will have glorified bodies similar to Jesus' resurrection body.

"And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt... Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou." — Genesis 41:41, 40

God Raises Prophets for Every Generation

Joseph was a Prophet raised by the Prophet Jacob, who was raised by the Prophet Abraham. God says in His Word, "I am the same yesterday, today, and forever" (Heb 13:8). In our day, God has raised amongst us our very own Prophetess Irene Mudavanhu for our generation! Let's celebrate this precious gift of God!

At our Easter Convention at Westlea Dream Centre's newly built sanctuary, we witnessed Apostles Pilot Mudavanhu, Fundira, Chiriseri, Evangelist Saungweme, HIMI Bishops, Senior Pastors, Pastors, Evangelists, Elders, Deacons the church gather to pray as the Prophetess was ordained into the ministry she has been established in for decades. Hallelujah! Read the full news article here →
