Peter: Opening the Door to the Jews & All dwelling at Jerusalem

The river was flowing through Peter and the 120 disciples! At Pentecost, Peter stood up boldly and preached Christ crucified, risen, ascended into the heavens, exalted at the right hand of God, received the Holy Spirit now poured out upon believers evidenced by speaking in tongues. Jesus became pneumatic and poured himself out in the person of the Holy Spirit. Peter proclaimed God made Jesus both Lord and Christ! Three thousand were saved that day—the door was opened in Jerusalem!

The river flowed mightily through Peter and the Apostles with miracles, signs and wonders. In early Acts we are shown the river flowing through Peter, the Apostles, deacons and Jerusalem Church. From the middle of Acts we are shown the river flowing mainly through Paul, his companions and churches for the rapid furtherance of the gospel.

“And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.” Acts 4:33

Philip: The River Breaks to Samaria

When persecution scattered the church, Philip the evangelist went to Samaria. The river was flowing through him to break down the wall between Jews and Samaritans! Multitudes gave heed to Philip's preaching as signs and miracles accompanied the Word.

Unclean spirits came out with loud voices, the paralyzed were healed, the lame walked—and there was great joy in that city! Simon the sorcerer who had bewitched the whole city believed and was baptized. The river was flowing to those the Jews despised!

"Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did." Acts 8:5-6

The Ethiopian Eunuch: The River to Africa!

An angel told Philip to leave the great revival in Samaria and go to a desert road. There he met an Ethiopian eunuch, the treasurer of Queen Candace, reading Isaiah 53. Philip ran to him and preached Jesus from that very scripture!

The eunuch believed and was baptized immediately! This African official carried the river of life back to Ethiopia. Church history tells us he established the Ethiopian church that stands to this day. The river reached Africa through one hungry, seeking heart!

"Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?" Acts 8:35-36

You Are a Vessel for the River!

The same river that flowed through Peter, Philip, and the Ethiopian Eunuch can flow through you! God is not looking for perfect vessels—He's looking for yielded vessels. Available vessels. Willing vessels!

Peter denied Jesus three times. Philip was just one of seven deacons. The Ethiopian was a foreigner, a eunuch who couldn't enter the temple. Yet the river flowed through each one mightily! When you yield to the Spirit, the river will flow through you to reach your generation.

Where is God calling you to carry the river? To your family? Your workplace? Your neighborhood? Your nation? Say yes! Let the river flow!

Yielded vessel

🙏 Prayer

Lord, make me a vessel for Your river! I yield myself completely to the Holy Spirit. Flow through me to reach my generation. Use me like You used Peter, Philip, and the Ethiopian Eunuch. Break down walls through me. Let the river flow! Amen.
