The Sealed & Guarded Tomb — God Made the Resurrection Public!

On the resurrection morning, seeking women journeyed bearing spices to annoint the Lord Jesus who had been buried in a tomb hewn in the rock Mat 27:60. When they arrived the tomb was securely sealed, guarded by Roman soldiers and closed with a big rock. The tomb was sealed as proof it had not been vandalised. Roman soldiers were awake alert guarding as had been directed by Pilate. Humanly speaking the only way out of the tomb would be disarming the soldiers, breaking the seal and removing the great stone. Roman soldiers were the most powerful on earth and no humans could disarm them to steal Jesus body.

Just as Jesus burial was public, God also made Jesus resurrection public! God brought the soldiers the women and angels to witness the evidence of Jesus resurrection. God defeated the human security as An angel of the Lord descended from heaven shaking the earth even as he rolled away the great stone — not to let Jesus out, but to show that He was already risen! In His glorified supernatural body the Lord had exited the tomb before the stone was ever moved. Mat 28:6 — He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
